「傾聽自然聲景」的教育理念

【喧囂,讓人關上了耳朵】

這是一個充滿喧囂的時代,在車水馬龍的街頭,每一個都各自朝著不同的方向走去,但是沒有一個會關注到自己的腳步聲,更不會仔細聆聽周遭是不是有蟲鳴鳥叫,這些聲音對大部分的人類來說,不僅沒有太多機會去認識牠們,更遑論要去覺察及辨識這些生命的聲音。

其實透過聲音,我們將會發現有太多生命跟我們都存在於同一片土地上,牠們會以自己的聲音進行各種生存活動的交流,包括求偶、宣示領域、乞討食物、警戒….這些聲音聽在人類的耳裡絕對不是背景音樂,我們有絕對的責任要去捍衛生物發言的權利與空間,而不是讓人類自己製造的聲音,鋪天蓋地的影響到生物生存的空間,因此人類必須學習安靜下來,同時也要學會打開耳朵,聆聽這個世界的聲音,那些人類以外的非人生命。

 

 

“The noise shuts off your ears”

It is a time of hustle and bustle. When everyone is going in different directions in the streets, but no one is concerned about the sound of their own footsteps, let alone listening carefully to the chirping of insects and birds. These are sounds that most humans do not have much chance of knowing, much less of recognizing and identifying.

In fact, through these sounds, we will discover that there are so many creatures that exist on the same land as us, and that they communicate with their own voices in various survival activities, including courtship, declaring their territory, begging for food, alerting, etc. These sounds are not background music to human ears. We have an absolute responsibility to defend the right of those creatures to have a voice and their living space, not to let the sound of our own creations affect their habitat. So, we must learn to be quiet, but we must also learn to open our ears and listen to the sounds of the world, the non-human beings that are outside of us.

【傾聽,需要重新學習】

在「台灣自然聲音地圖」的計畫當中,我們也提供聆聽自然的教學資源,希望能認識這些多樣繽紛的生物與這片土地的關係,同時我們也將過去台灣聲景協會多年來進行過的教學經驗,整理成比較具有系統性的教學模組與策略,以及教案設計,提供給更多有心投入在聲景教育的老師與社會大眾參考。

我們充分了解到,現代人、包括我們的孩子,普遍都欠缺接觸自然的機會,如果一個人如果從小沒有機會去大自然聆聽過一些森林的山林鳥語,或是到海邊認真聆聽過潮起潮落的聲響,加上每一天都生活在喧鬧的城市當中,自然而然就會關閉自己的感官,也因此會對於環境更加的無感。

 

 

“Listening need to be relearned”

In the “Taiwan Nature Sound Map” project, we also provide teaching resources for listening to nature in the hope of giving an insight into the relationship between these diverse creatures and the land. Meanwhile, we have also compiled the teaching experience of the Association over the years into a more systematic teaching module and strategy, as well as lesson plan design, to provide reference for more teachers and the public who are interested in soundscape education.

We are fully aware that modern people, including our children, generally lack access to nature. If a person has never had the opportunity to go to nature to listen to the birds in the forest or to listen to the tides at a beach, and if they live in a noisy city every day, they will naturally turn off their senses and become more insensitive to the environment.

【寧靜,重新連結人與土地】
因此我們設計了一些活動課程與教學策略,希望能夠幫助老師可以直接應用在教學的現場,讓更多的人能夠學習打開自己的耳朵,關注自己身處的環境,並且建立起更負責任與懂得尊重、更有同理心、並具有聆聽美學與素養的現代公民。當然,更重要的是,我們希望透過教育的方式,培養出更多願意靜下來,聆聽自然聲景的公民之後,才能真正保護大地,讓更多天籟能夠聲聲不息的綿延下去。

 

“Quiet reconnects humans with the land”
We have therefore designed a number of activities and teaching strategies that we hope will help teachers to apply directly in the classroom, so that more people can learn to open their ears, pay attention to their environment, and become responsible and respectful, empathetic, and aesthetically literate modern citizens. More importantly, we hope that through education, we can cultivate more citizens who are willing to be quiet and listen to natural soundscapes, so that we can truly protect the earth and allow more sounds of nature to continue to be heard.
